The company Miele has established a spotless reputation for themselves in the past few years in the laundry field. It is because they know how to take care of clothes, among other things, that households increasingly adopt them throughout the world, but also because the company incessantly works to elaborate new and improved techniques.

In the past three years, they have actually integrated the market with an innovation that earned it prizes. Chosen among more than 700 other participants, it is the Honeycomb™ that amazed the judges of the “Steel Information Center” and that made them walk off with the first “Steel Innovation” prize. Well, this technology that was on the test bench back then has proven its worth in the field today.

What is the Honeycomb™ technology about?

Well, it is a very simple technology that you can find in the tank of Miele washing machines. Like the name points to, you can easily know if the appliance is equipped with this technology by looking for the presence of characteristic motifs that look honeycombed. This ingenious geometry contributes to creating a small water film that is lodged between the clothes and the metal of the tank. This way, the load can slide more delicately in the drum by limiting all frictions harmful to clothes fibres. Result: clothes are less creased and don’t wear out as quickly.

Drainage without a trace

Moreover, still with the aim of limiting the bad treatment of materials, Miele designers have pondered on the crucial step of the washing cycle: the draining step. Because this step has the biggest rotation power, the centrifugal force that is created exerts such a pressure on clothes that they usually stick to the surface of the tank. Normally, the risk for clothes is that they try to “escape” through the draining holes and stay marked. However, in the Honeycomb™ models, the designers have reduced the diameter of these holes in order to prevent this disaster from happening.

Finally, thanks to a reduction of friction between the tank and the load and also a modification on the drainage system plan, clothes that are washed in the Miele Honeycomb™ models come out much less creased and their lifespan is extended of about 4 times compared to any other machine. Moreover, these machines can make you take advantage of a series of practical options such as its 11 pre-programmed washing cycles and its abnormal load detector (that detects if an animal seeped through for example).
