Comparance - Easy Appliance comparison
Since 1995 and following various European directives, the energy label is obligatory for appliances such as electric bulbs. Knowing how to read and interpret them enables you to buy knowing the annual consumption of the appliance, and giving you a practical tool to help you in your efforts of reducing your energetic consumption.
Choosing the right colour!
From the optimum output (A++) to the least (G), the appliance is evaluated relatively to graded energetic efficiency classes. The letter clearly and unequivocally indicates the energetic performances of the appliance. That is what you should glance at in the first place. A colour code also facilitates a quick tracking of this essential information. It is good to know that in 2007, it wasn’t all the appliance categories that had A+ and A++ classes.
The labels are divided in four parts that also furnish other useful information for the client and that can help them to make a choice between many similar models:
- At the top of the label are indicated the precise references of the appliance that also include the name of the model and the manufacturer.
- Right under the energetic class indicated by a letter, you can find another part that regroups a lot of relative information to the type of appliance: annual energy consumption in kWh/yr or per cycle, as well as the water consumption, the capacity of the volume, the washing or spin-drying efficiency... So the latter will differ somewhat whether it is a refrigerator, dishwasher, dryer, stove, or washer.
- Finally, the last section informs us on a non-negligible comfort factor: the sound produced by the appliance written in decibels. It isn’t that easy to make out, but it enables comparison with other products.
