Since 1995 and following various European directives, the energy label is obligatory for appliances such as electric bulbs. Knowing how to read and interpret them enables you to buy knowing the annual consumption of the appliance, and giving you a practical tool to help you in your efforts of reducing your energetic consumption.
From the optimum output (A++) to the least (G), the appliance is evaluated relatively to graded energetic efficiency classes. The letter clearly and unequivocally indicates the energetic performances of the appliance. That is what you should glance at in the first place. A colour code also facilitates a quick tracking of this essential information. It is good to know that in 2007, it wasn’t all the appliance categories that had A+ and A++ classes.
