With an incredible exterior finish, the Electrolux refrigerator ICONMC looks like a high class appliance. It is imposing with its solid handles and its brushed stainless steel finish of a superior quality covered of a surface that resist finger prints, which justifies its high cost of at least 3 000$.
However, it is only when one opens the doors of this spacious refrigerator that one realises that the company has neglected a few important details. On one hand, the first rack is equipped with an adjustable elevation system with a handle that makes the rack go up and down when one turns it: useful once, but cumbersome the rest of the time. The other flaw to be considered is the SmoothGlideMc system that facilitates the gliding is only present on two of the racks. It is a shame that at such a price, the manufacturers have omitted to apply this technology to the rest of the appliance. However, the meat and fruit and vegetable containers are also equipped with this system, but it is not as efficient on the latter.
When observing the humidity control systems of the two bottom containers, one realises quickly that they are made of resistant plastic resin, but unfortunately not designed well. The control buttons’ design is to be revised because they are too fragile. As for the freshness control in the meat container, it is exemplary and lasting.
It is still pleasant to open the doors of this refrigerator because it lights up gradually without blinding the user and, ergomically, it is an important point that promotes your eyes’ health. Six light bulbs make the content clear to the user, but he will have to spend more money to replace them.
A good conception of the appliances has always represented a very important element to offer the user a good comprehension of the functions and this, as quickly as possible. With Electrolux’s ICONMC, It will be easy to adjust the internal temperature and to verify the status of the water filter. On the other hand, the quality of the material’s finish used for the making of the external buttons is questionable. It is a rubber that will crackle from the first years of usage.
All in all, this refrigerator does not constitute that great a deal if we consider that other manufacturers succeed much better when it comes to the price range suggested here.
