Series characteristics: washers
The Nexxt washers are renowned for their great energetic efficiency. Indeed, their energy and water consumption is inferior to more than 72% of classic top load washers. So this is the reason why all washers from the Nexxt series are certified ENERGY STAR.
All the washers from this series are also equipped with the xxtrasanitery program. This function consists of heating the water at 170 °F for 3 minutes thanks to an intelligent captor connected to a thermostat. This process eliminates nearly 99.9% of bacteria. After this short period of time, the temperature of the water is lowered to 150 °F, which doesn’t damage the fibres. So clothes are well disinfected but also retain their aspect of being new.
Moreover, all the Bosch Nexxt washers are equipped with the sensotronic II plus function that optimises washing at every phase of the cycle. Indeed, this characteristic evaluates the size of the load, the level of water and the temperature required to obtain an optimal washing while consuming less energy and water. Moreover, numerical captors are busy pampering all the fabrics by choosing a washing cycle appropriate for wool, mohair, or even silk.
Finally, the Nexxt washers offer peace of sound because the sound produced during the washing doesn’t go past 54 dB. Their great loading capacity (3.81 pi3 or 107 litres) will also be suitable to large families or to people living an active life.
Series characteristics: dryers
Just like the Nexxt washers from the 500 series, the dryers of the same series have characteristics that are exclusive to Bosch.
Firstly, the syncrotechnology functioning’s principle is to synchronise the washing and drying times. Indeed, washers are synchronised with the washer’s spin-drying time considering the fabric and the selected water temperature. So you won’t have to wait until the end of your washing cycle for the dryer to be free, thus avoiding leaving your clothes wet in the washer and the back and forth to the laundry room.
Secondly, the Duotronic system has two humidity captors and three temperature captors to offer a precise drying every time. This system enables you to obtain a best energetic output and avoid excessive drying that could damage clothes.
Then, the wrinkleblock function is an innovation that avoids the crease formation at the end of the drying cycle. That is why at the end of a normal drying cycle the dryer activates itself intermittently for a period of about an hour in order to avoid that clothes wrinkle. So you won’t have to rush when the dryer’s cycle is over.
Finally, just like the washers, the Nexxt dryers of the 500 series are ultra-silent (67 dB) and also have an important loading capacity (6.7 pi3 or 190 litre drum).
Design and manufacture
Design wise, these appliances are made with robust materials that will resist for many years at a regular usage. Indeed, very little plastic is used in the making of these appliances. The metal and the glass confer a solid appearance to these washers and dryers.
The commands, made of a scroll wheel and of buttons, are simply to use and are of an intuitive use. The scroll wheel is precise and easily chooses the desired washing cycle. The circular commands to be pressed are bound with a rubber ring, which protects them against all potential water infiltrations.
Efficient, ecologically energetic, robust and versatile, do the Nexxt 500 series washers and dryers have any flaws? Their lack is from the point of view of their appearance. Firstly, they are only offered in white. That is quite disappointing considering the actual trend in appliances, notably for brightly coloured washers and dryers. Moreover, their simplistic and hardly refined design gives these appliances a bit of an old-fashioned and outdated look. However, an effort has been made as to what concerns the 500 Plus series by adding a few touches of stainless steel to the appliances, but it is the only difference between this series and the 500 series, so the cost difference isn’t really worth it.
This washer/dryer set must be bought for its sturdiness, its more interesting series characteristics, and the quality of the Bosch products more than its design that leaves much to be desired.
