In general, small-sized refrigerators on the market are cheaper because they are of entrance range and regroup fewer options. In the case of this refrigerator, its rounded profile with stainless steel doors confers a chic and prestigious style. It is equipped of two doors and a freezer with a drawer which is more practical because we use the freezer a lot less. The double-door system as well as the handles are solid and well-made thanks to high quality materials.
Responsible consumption and interior to rework
When opening the doors, one sees that the internal finish is less taken care of than the exterior. The corners of the doors aren’t well insulated and the foam material comes out in certain places. You might say, but how can one have a company that doesn’t pay attention to details like that? As an industrial designer myself, I wonder about it too. Otherwise, the shelving system is fixed (without bearing) and it is equipped of a protection against spills called Spillproof. Interesting thing to notice, it consumes hardly any energy comparatively to other appliances in the same range, which is 482 kWh. Indeed, one must wonder, as a consumer, about the storing capacity because the electrical consumption can be considerably low comparatively to high range competitors. From a different point of view, the drawers’ humidity control is useless in the measure where there are only two present modes. Indeed, the larger the palm is, the more the user can judge well the percentage of humidity in the drawer. Furthermore, a loud warning informs the user that the door isn’t closed properly, which is practical to save energy, but curiously, the freezer’s drawer isn’t equipped with this technology.
What about the ergonomy?
The freezer’s door marble system is a bit defective and from an ergonomical point of view, it could cause back problems to the user after opening the door many times. Generally, when one thinks that to force oneself a bit won’t have an impact on one’s body, but that is wrong. In the refrigerator domain, the positioning of the handles as well as the necessary strength at its opening are essential. Finally, this LG refrigerator is an interesting purchase considering that its energetic consumption is low and its general finish. Let’s simply say that at this price, there are other appliances with a better quality/price ratio, but that consume a lot more.
